Live from NY! It's Back to the Banks 2008

Only Back to the Banks would have a results list that includes names listed as "Dude in Brown T-Shirt" or "Guy with Mohawk"... either way, the weather was good, and the energy was off the charts as all of New York's rippers showed up for yesterday's Back to the Banks.

Check out interstate all week for a complete photo libraray and video feeds of the action from this weekend's Banks and Manni Mania contests (going on today).

Check out a great recap at Skateboardermag.com [link]

Bucky Lasek Lands his first ever 720

Buck Joins The 720 Club

After unsuccessful attempts in Dallas at the LG contest and the AST in Baltimore, Maloof proved to be a favorable place for his latest milestone. During the finals of the Maloof Money Cup Bucky Lasek pulled his first ever 720. Riding into it fakie, he grabbed Indy, was inverted and corked then rode away clean. I filmed both Dallas and Baltimore when he tried it. I was thrilled to be there again to see Bucky finally stick it.

Congrats to Buck!

Here are his attempts in Dallas

Broke but not Broken Sheckler to skate at Maloof

Media reports have revealed that Ryan Sheckler has apparently broken his arm just four days prior to this week’s Maloof Money Cup at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Despite the unfortunate injury, Shecks still intends to skate to the best of his ability for a chance at the largest-ever first place prize of $100,000.

Andrew Reynolds Previews the Maloof Money Cup

This week in Costa Mesa, California the Maloof Brothers will be the latest entrepreneurs to enter into the skateboarding world. Owners of the Sacramento Kings and the Palms hotel casino in Las Vegas these billionaire boys have the coin and the vision to try something different, be corporate without being corporate. The three ring circus that has become the AST has had four years to get the corporate contest model on lock. From instructing their staff to remove Red Bull, Rock Star and any other product not under the Dew umbrella from camera view, to clamping down on any media coverage outside of Fuel and MTV these guys should take a look at what will go down this weekend.

Maloof seems to gets that skateboarding is the dominant and most enduring of the "Action Sports". No BMX, no FMX - just skateboarding.

The commitment appears to elevating the contest platform back to one of respect. The almost $500,000 for the best skateboarders is fitting for the talent they have assembled. Matching the caliber of skaters is a concrete street course that resembles something natural. With so many skater's opinions actulaly being listened to, the hype over the contest is well deserved. Here is Andrew Reynolds thoughts on the event:

Throw in a Game of Skate, a Jam for the Ladies and an am-contest all in a four day stretch, and this weekend should be one of the best in skating history.

The Dew Tour isn't the only game in town this summer.

If you haven't heard, $500k is getting kicked out to a select group of top Pros that have been invited to compete in the Maloof Money Cup for the biggest purse ever. The list of skaters is impressive, so it looks like the big money was enough to draw out even the most contest shy skaters. [See the list]

The interstate crew is heading out to Orange County for this blessed event, so as we gear up for July 11th we'll feature previews and news on the $$$Cup.

Check out what Rob Dyrdek Eric Koston, Danny Way and the Shek have to say.

Bucky Lasek joins in on Go Skateboarding Day 2008

bucky_goskateday.jpg

Just hours before he was to compete in the AST Dew Tour Vert Finals, Bucky Lasek joined his hometown buddies for a ride through downtown Baltimore and the Inner Harbor Pavillion in honor of "Go Skateboarding Day 2008".

At one point he told a police officer to "raise the roof" when she tried to get him to not skate around the harbor pavillions. When the next officer approached Bucky he politely refused and said... "It's Go Skateboarding Day".

Get out there and skate... and when you get back in tonight check out our complete coverage of Go Skate Day and the AST Dew Tour Finals (street and vert tonight). CLICK FOR COMPLETE COVERAGE INCLUDING VIDEO AND PHOTOS (HERE).

Peace!

Chaz Ortiz Wild Card

So here we are and its June. Are you ready for this year's AST action? Most of us are tired of the Sheckler stories. Maybe now Chaz Ortiz will be the story of the summer.
postchazortiz.jpg

Just 18 days from now Baltimore's Open Qualifier for the AST Dew Tour Begings. Thirty skaters compete. Only ten will qualify to join the 20 who are pre qualified. Pre qualifications require a skater finish in the top 16 the previous year. Do that your set, or you best get a wild card spot. Now there are a lot of "wild cards" out there. But these are the four AST invited.

1. Chad Fernandez – Strong showing recently at Tampa Pro and on the bubble for the 15 cut.
2. Paul Rodriguez- P Rod is sponsored by Mountain Dew
3. Rodney Jones- Baltimore local who had a disappointing showing last year.
4. Chaz Ortiz 14 year old Am ripper.

You recall Chaz won the Free Flow tour last year. He won the oppurtunity to skate against the Pros is Orlando. He landed a 6th place finish above some quality talent. 6th place garners a check of about $5000.00. Chaz who did not want to go Pro turned down the money. This caused some hard feeling with some of the skaters in Orlando. AST chose to keep the 6th place prize money. Most skaters who participated agreed the right thing for AST to do was to divvy up his share amongst all the riders below 6th place.

There is no official word if Chaz has accepted to wild card spot. He has to decide two weeks before the event starts in Baltimore. If he decides to compete this young Am will have turn Pro to compete. This could be the story the tour. Forget girls crying for Ryan. He's what this tour needs. MTV cameras invaded the Dew events last year cheapening the contest, making it all about one skater. Dew has a shaky reputation with skateboarders. If AST focuses on this new young talent for his talent and not his looks, the tour in its 4th year, could gain back some repectablity with those skaters who think the event has turned skateboarding into a circus.

Let’s hope he accepts the wild card and turns Pro, making this year more credible.

Rolling The Dice: The Skateboard Business

vu-1.jpg

Nothing in life is certain. Well maybe death and taxes, the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, e=mc/2. Ok, a lot of things are certain.

Add to that: THE SKATEBOARD BUSINESS IS SKETCHY! Some of the characters in the game rival sleazy politicians.

So why get into it? Why not just skate?

For the love. The business of skateboarding is a necessary evil, ah good, I'm mean good. Check out Focus mags story on "the Biz" for further stories.

Skate shops provide a lot of good. Opening one in a neighborhood adds stability and gives a positive second home for kids. Baltimore is a tough city and needs all the positive influences it can get.

Gary Smith (Interstate contributor and Pro for Ergohobia, Hoodlum, Krux Dakine, Mobtown) and
Chris Donmoyer (Ergophobia Sales Manager) are two good guys who are willing to trade on there names as skateboarders and put up their reputations in the skateboard business.

On June 7th they'll open Vu skate shop in Baltimore.

Interstate wishes these guys the best and all the success in the world.

Last year I started on a new path in skateboarding launching this web site. I felt just like these guys do now.

Here in their own words are their aspirations and fears.

The best way I can explain the butterflies in my stomach and lump in my throat is through skateboarding. Opening my own shop is like riding up to a rail I’ve always wanted to smith grind but not knowing the outcome. Instead of broken teeth and a fractured ankle I would be dealing with a broken wallet and bank CEO, s wearing pin strip Armani suits. Lets go back to the smith grind for a second; I wouldn’t be riding up to the rail or even contemplating it if I wasn’t 100% sure I could do it.
This is the one thing years of skateboarding has taught me, if I want something bad enough I can get it. This doesn’t mean I won’t have to work endless nights placing orders, building walls, and running around town looking for the city Comptroller’s office to get a paper signed. What’s the difference really between grinding a rail I’m scared shitless of and opening up a shop. With both I must believe in myself and realize the trail and error involved. I finally feel grown up (well as much as I can being a skater) and am fortunate enough to be a part of this skateboarding family. With Vu I will continue spreading my skateboard seed long after I’ve smith grinded my last rail. Thanks for all the support our door is always open and will remain open after June 7th hope to see you in the near future, SUPPORT SKATER OWNED AND OPERATED SHOPS….. Gary Smith

In an economy that everyone seems to be complaining about, is the time that myself, Chris Donmoyer, and Gary Smith decide to open up a skateshop. Of course you might ask yourself why but that the thought of that never came to mind for us…honestly. To the skateboarders reading this site…I think you know exactly the reason why. We are skateboarders who love what we do and took it amongst ourselves to make a change for the better. To tell you the truth, we were just tired of the wrong people cashing in on something that they weren’t even involved in or loved. Business 101: If starting a business, make sure you back it 100% percent. Any doubt you have should results in tossing it out the window.

To make a change means taking it amongst yourself and applying your ideas. Whether you fail or succeed. Only you define what is a failure or a success. No matter what, at the end of the day, the lease, life, etc…I can say that Gary and myself will still be skateboarders and knowing that we made a change for someone is just something that is beyond words. We welcome all of you into our shop. Even if you don’t purchase anything, please feel free to come and hang out, drink a beer, skate the miniramp, or just talk about life. Please send us emails, come to the events, and introduce yourself because we are here to share skateboarding and much more with you. We are skateboarders and always will be.

Wish I could go into all of the detail about the stress that comes with this business (bank, paperwork, invoices, accounts, orders, phone calls, meetings, business plan, deadlines, traveling for tradeshows, team riders, etc) but that would just bore you. Hell, I’m writing this at 2:14 AM and have been doing work since 10:30 AM. I might get 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night (just ask Gary about that one). For all of this, I wouldn’t trade a single thing. To all of the people that I have met, whether it’s people I’ve come across while working for Ergophobia, Skatepark of Tampa, skate camps, Satori, previous shops, in and outside of the industry, etc…you’re a big part of my life. You’ve made this happen and have given me the drive. So thanks to everyone who supports us and I look forward to sharing this dream with all of you.
Much Love,
Chris Donmoyer

Andy Macdonald goes for Vert/Street Medals at Asian X

Find more videos like this on interstate

After taking the gold medal in the Vert competition with three flawless runs, Andy Mac tried to get another medal in the street competition. The Positiv Pro 360 melon the ski jump, 50/50 the big wall, varial grab transfers, and even a tre flip in his runs. Good, but not enough for the podium. He got 4th.

Maybe this will start a trend with street guys entering the vert compitions.

Top 5 Moments At Tampa Pro 08

postmotoyagary.jpg
Danny Montoya and me.

It’s hot it’s crowded and the adult beverages were consumed out of paper cups. The festivities that went down this past Easter weekend were better than any Cancun spring break. Who cares about frat parties and flip-flops when you could be watching Stefan Janoski do switch flip crooks down a rail. This is how I spent my weekend (or what I remember of it) skating and watching my favorite rippers do what they do best, so here is my top 5 favorite moments of the weekend.

postbamtrish.jpg
Kerry Getz, Brian Anderson, and Bam with his arm around my sweety Trisha.

5… Going to the industry parties is always a blast. This year they had Band Of Horses play (Guy Mariano song Lakai vid) a free show for everyone in the contest. The best part about it is that I watched them from the Red Bull vert ramp.

4 … Vern Laird works for Listen and was helping announce the contest. If you don’t know Vern he’s from the Philly area and loves to talk crap. I got off easy and was only called out for being short. My favorite quote from Vern was on Stefan Janowski. Stefan skates so effortless that he looks like he is sleeping, so when Vern told everyone he had a sleeping pill sponsor I almost lost it.

3… Sometimes people who are pro just disappear off the face of the Earth, so at first thought it seems like they quit skating. This is not the case for Matt Beach and Chad Fernandez. They both made it to the top 10 and destroyed the course. Even if they did stop skating for a while they never lost their talent. I was hyped to see both of them out there and will being more of them in the future. Congrats to Matt for getting on Skate Mental.

2… The pressure of judging the top 3 of this contest would have made my eyes bleed. With John Rattray’s skills of skating everything, Greg Lutzka flawless tech run, and Mike Peterson’s backside boneless from high to low quarterpipe, there’s no doubt why they ended up in the places they did. Mike Peterson smiling his whole run landed 3rd. John Rattray makes the chief Jamie Thomas happy by getting 2nd and Greg Lutzka taking home 20grand for first.

1… My favorite part of the weekend had nothing to do with tricks landed on a skateboard. Friday night there was an art show in Ybor city, which made my childhood dreams come true. Mark Gonzales, Neal Blender, and Lance Mountain held the show. Seeing photos and art pieces of boards I used to ride made me feel 12 again. Not to mention Mark Gonzales was there in the flesh. I tried hard not to fan out but it wasn’t easy. Rowe shot some great pics of the event, check back later for more photos of skateboardings finest faces who attened this awesome event!

postjimlance.jpg
Legends Jim Thiebaud, and Lance Mountain.

I could have easily have done a top 100 list for this contest but who wants to read a novel about my experiences at Tampa. 2009 Pro is now less than a year away so cut grass, work at Subway, or turn pro that way you can go to Tampa and make your own experiences happen. Oh yea if your wondering how I skated in the contest look around the 41st place, not bad for an old man huh.

The Skate Gods Were On Our Side (Part 1)

postmeandCreager.jpg

I just got home from one of the greatest skate trips I’ve ever been on. This could have been the best trip for multiple reasons. For one we went to Phoenix, AZ and Albuquerque, NM, which is the perfect place to be when it’s winter on the east coast. It was 80 degrees and I got to work on my farmers tan. The crew I rolled with helped to elevate the trips morale with their personalities and fun antics. Most of the skaters I’ve known for a while but their were a couple of news faces. I’m fortunate enough to say by the end of this trip these new faces became my friends and that’s what skateboarding is all about.

Since Ergophobia clothing has been building up their skate team lately they figured it was time for us to go out and handle some business. The squad consisted of Ronnie Creager, Andrew Cannon, Tom Guilfess, Sean Hale, Ki Realer, Thad (filmer), Matt Price (SkateBoard Mag Photographer), special guest Blind pro Jani Laitiala, and me.

Let me shed some insight on each one of these individuals and why they brought some much to the table. Ronnie Creager has been pro for 16 years and one of my all time favorites on and off his board. Riding for the same company as Ronnie has been a dream come true. Jani Laitiala was staying at Ronnie’s house so he came to New Mexico with us. Jani is from Finland and the only thing I knew about him was how amazing he is on a skateboard. After meeting him his skating wasn’t the only thing I respected. It was his unique love for life and the blinging smile he always had plastered on his face.

I’ve known Andrew Cannon for a couple years now; he’s originally from West Chester, PA but is now going to school in Phoenix. His high energy and constant clowning around kept everyone in tears the entire trip. He is also the reason why this trip happened.

Tom lives right down the street from me and I’ve been skating with him a lot lately. He is a good Christian kid with a pure heart. As far as skating goes he’s charged up and ready for anything. Sean Hale is from the mid west so I’ve only met him a couple times. Him and Tom are good friends and both ride for Untitled skateboards. Sean like Tom is also a good Christian. This is why Andrew gave them the nicknames “Rod and Todd” from the Simpson’s. I was hyped on both of them for staying true to their beliefs and not judging the rest of us. Even if they didn’t approve of what we did or for Andrew having an upside down cross tattoo.

postMeandKi.jpg
I think Ki Realer was supposed to play for the Lakers instead of being a sponsored skateboarder. He is almost 7 feet tall and loves chicken. Ki lives in Philadelphia so I get to hang out with him a lot. People probably laugh when they see us together because of our height differences. We both love hip hop and talking crap to each other.

I never met Thad or Matt Price before this trip. Hanging out with Matt made me feel like I was
living the movie Super Bad. He looks and talks like Jona Hill and had me laughing so hard I nearly pissed my pants. I hung out with Thad my first night in Phoenix. We went to a local Brewery sucked down a couple and became instant friends. We share a lot of the same interest and love apples. I knew after only one night of hanging out with the Brimley squadron it was going to be a great trip.

The skating part of the trip will have to be continued till next time. I assure you when you read what went down and see the footage/photos in the future you will know that Ergophobia clothing is not “F” ing around. Stay tuned for more skateboard enjoyment soon.

Part 2 Next Week!

TWS's "The Now" and Cliche’s "Deja Vu" Videos

posttranstorldlogo.gif
TWS is currently in full-swing with filming and production of its new video titled “The Now” featuring David Gravette, Kenny Hoyle, Matt Miller, Richie Jackson, Nick Trapasso, and Sean Malto. Look for it to drop this summer.

th_jacketdejavunews08.jpg

It’s been in the making for quite some time now, but the final edits and renderings are being made to Cliche’s Deja Vu video which will be released for early Spring.

This video effort is a collective project where the Cliche’ team’s best footage from the last four videos (Europa, Bon Appetit, Freedom Fries and Hello Jojo) has been provided to a special guest editor and remixed for each team rider. This sounds brilliant and we can't wait to see it.

The featured parts are:
Lucas Puig edited by Ty Evans
Joey Brezinski edited by Roger Bagley
Ricardo Fonseca edited by Greg Hunt
Javier Mendizabal edited by Mike Manzoori
Andrew Brophy edited by Dan Magee
Cale Nuske edited by Scuba Steve
Jeremie Daclin edited by Dan Wolfe
Charles Collet edited by Ewan Bowman
JB Gillet edited by RB Umali

What’s more, Cliche’s Deja Vu DVD will also feature a bonus uncut version of the Gypsy Tour 2.

Man Dies in Skate Park Collision

The account of this traggic accident brings to light the importance of safety. Even at a public or private skate park were protective measures are the rule or at least strongly encouraged, injuries can occour. We skate partly for the danger and of the possibly we could get hurt. But let's not get hurt or die needlessly. Simple awareness of other skaters around you and comunication with them will save alot of down time down due to injuries.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- An accident, left one man dead Friday afternoon after colliding with another person at a local skate park.

Michael Jeansonne, 44, and his twin brother Anthony collided at the Two Rivers Skate Park on Friday. Michael was wearing a helmet, but somehow he was still seriously hurt. He later died. Both men are from Louisiana. But did Jeansonne do everything right, when it came to wearing the right safety gear?

The accident Friday didn't stop people from skating on Saturday. The park was packed from open to close.

At Two Rivers Skate Park there are the experts, and there are the beginners. Vincent Morris and his friends were at the park Friday night, just after the accident happened.

"The two brothers collided, his helmet came flying off and he hit his head on the concrete," said Morris.

While Jeansonne was wearing a helmet, some witnesses said he didn't have it strapped on correctly.

"If you watch you'll see a lot of close calls, and it's got me nervous as can be with my son out there," said one parent, Anthony Klingenburg.

Metro Parks is also doing its part to keep riders safe. Riders can be fined if they are not wearing a helmet. Security cameras are installed that are can be monitored by park police 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Burton Acquires Alien Workshop And Habitat

dnadist_small.png

Burton Acquires Alien Workshop And Habitat
DNA Distribution, which includes skateboarding brands Alien Workshop, Habitat and Reflex, today announced that the company has been acquired by Burton.

The two companies began discussions over a year ago and found that they share a common approach in the way that they contribute to boardsports culture, including a commitment to creating long-lasting relationships with their teams of international athletes. In addition, both are committed to advancing and innovating hardgoods technologies, as well as the artistry and creativity associated with these sports; supporting a solid team of amateur riders; and providing best customer service practices.

DNA Distribution will continue to operate in Dayton, Ohio and CEO and Co-Founder Chris Carter will continue to oversee the DNA brands, which include Alien Workshop, Habitat and Reflex Bearings.

“We are very excited to bring the DNA family of brands to Burton - a company that we truly respect,” says Chris Carter, Chief Executive Officer for DNA Distribution. “Burton clearly leads their market in terms of team, innovation, marketing and values. Joe, Mike and I look forward to leveraging Burton's strengths to reach the full potential for the DNA brands: Alien Workshop, Habitat and Reflex.”

“Through surfing and snowboarding we have learned that hardgoods are the foundation of all boardsports, and with the addition of DNA to our family, we are on our way to delivering skaters what they want and expect,” says Jake Burton, Founder and Chairman of Burton. “As with Al Merrick and the crew at Channel Islands, the relationship with Chris, Mike and Joe at DNA has been a natural fit right from the start. Everyone around here is committed to growing Burton into a true boardsports company, so I am confident that we can provide a home where DNA and their team of skaters can build upon what they have already excelled at in the skate industry.”

“We couldn't have found a better company to work with than DNA,” says Laurent Potdevin, Burton’s Chief Executive Officer. “Burton and all of its brands are authentically committed to snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding without distractions from other sports, products or categories. This acquisition completes a strategy that we have been very focused on for quite some time and marks a new milestone in the evolution of Burton and its family of brands.”

Shaun White Arrested?

postshauwhitecited.jpg

On December 19th Shaun White was charged with second degree criminal tampering (a misdemeanor.) The 21 year old Pro skateboarder,Pro snowboarder and Amateur prankster allegedly set off a fire extinguisher at the Beaver Run ski resort in Colorado. The Breckenridge Police Department report stated a hotel video camera captured the footy. A man was seen removing the fire extinguisher from the wall and placing it on the ground, "then a large cloud of smoke begins to develop as the extinguisher is discharged by the male." After some great CSI work by the Brek police, they matched tread pattern of the Flying Tomatoes' shoes to the footprints left in the dust caused by the fire extinguisher. Sherlock would be proud. White was read his Miranda rights. Then "mum" was the word for White who refused to answer questions from police. An odor of alcohol was detected his breath as criminal summons was issued to White who then returned to his hotel. A court date was set for March 10. If found guilty of the offense, he most likely will be fined. White had better bring cash. The Summit County Po Po doesn’t take American Express.

LG Actions Sports Championships - Bucky vs. PLG

post_bucky_lasek_vert.jpg One of my favorite Buck Photos ever! Photo by Bart Tararuj in Portland

Shaun White will not be there. I think he's snowboarding. So this weekend in Dallas its Bucky and PLG slugging it out for the big money at the LG Action Sports Championship. Other competitors Andy Mac, Bob Burnquist, Sandro Diaz, and Jean Postec will take their shot too. All have been sk8ing well in the competition these past months. Bucky is my home town boy but my money is on PLG.

To catch the action live, pick up tickets online, or tune in to the LG Action Sports Championships on CBS, Spike TV, and Versus.

LG Actions Sports Championships - Team Brazil Favorite to win in Dallas

This weekend Rodolfo Ramos, the 2006 LG Action Sports Skate Park Champion, will defend his title in Dallas. He will have tough competition. Fellow countrymen and brother, Wagner Ramos, Rodil de Araujo, Jr., Fabrizio Santos, Tulio de Oliviera, Danilo do Rosario, and Fabio Sleiman will also be competing.

As of late, this tight group of Brazilians has consistantly done well in contests. Rodolfo Ramos, Frabrizio Santos, Tulio de Olivera, and Rodil Araujo Jr., have all placed third or better at Dew Tour events this year. It has become common to hear Portuguese spoke around the winners podium as the trophies are handed out.

Brazilian skaters are very well respected in international sk8boarding do to a tech heavy, smooth style that is powerful and consistent; expect any one or all of them to place. (Right: Rodolfo Ramos warming up. Photo by David Stuck)

Checking in with Forest Skateboards

Visit Forest Skateboards, you don't have to buy anything, but after checking out their boards and clothing designs you just might!

Forest Skateboards

The signature leaf logo pays homage to trees and to the wood that is used for boards we skate on. Full paterned shirts carry wood grain, tree bark and some interesting characters out of a twisted "Green Eggs and Ham". The great art does not stop with the clothing.

The board line has the same trippy theme on its graphics. I especially like the Wood Monkey Wood Grain model. I also favor the Fabrizio Santos models.

The graphics are as cool Fabrizio. Got to mention...He is one of the nicest guys to talk to. Fabrizio and the rest of the team have a great company standing behind them.

Some of the buttons on the site are under construction so check back from time to time to see what they add.

Interstate wishes Forest success in the future and hopes you will support them!

Maloof Money Cup being billed as Superbowl of Skating

Maloof Money Cup

What will you be doing next July? I can tell you what we'll be doing... basking in the sun at the Orange County Fairgrounds and its 40,000 square feet of skating goodness...

Scheduled for July 11-13, 2008, The Maloof Money Cup will include three professional United States Championship competitions, a United States amateur event, a youth skateboarding camp, and an interactive festival featuring action sport retailers and skateboarding activities.

Highlighting the weekend's events will be the US Pro Street Championship, which will feature a $100,000 first prize and what promises to be the most innovative and intense street course in professional skateboarding today. Always a fan-favorite, the US Pro Vert Championship will award $75,000 and a tricked-out SUV to the winner who exhibits the best 'big air' and 'off-the-wall tricks' possible. The US Women's Pro Street Championship will include the largest first prize in women's professional skateboarding history with $25,000 going to the winner.

"World Cup Skateboarding is thrilled to be involved with the Maloof Money Cup. With a history of organizing professional skateboarding competitions around the world for the past 15 years, we are truly excited to finally see skateboarding come of age with a premier skateboarding-only event in the United States. Bringing the event to the Orange County Fairgrounds in Southern California, the energy center of the skateboarding industry and the birthplace of skateboarding, is like bringing it all home. We look forward to the future of this event," states Don Bostick, founder of World Cup Skateboarding.

What others are saying...

"This is the sort of news flash I have been waiting to come as the skateboard industry continues to grow and attract bigger and financially stronger sponsors. The Maloof Money Cup will be the largest purse ever to be up for winning in the history of skateboarding!..." Europeskate.com
"Pro skaters, listen up. It seems there is some serious money about to be thrown your way. The bar has been raised considerably for what has previously been considered the largest purse in skateboarding competition..." Extreme365.com
"Hmmmm $400,000 in payouts for a skate competition? Jeebus that's like a rapper's first record contract type money. Well apparently the Maloof Brothers (the ones that brought you the Palms Casino and the Sacramento Kings) are planning to pay out that much in their Maloof Money Cup..." lat34.com
