Move over Flintstones', now there's Tony Hawk HuckJam brand of vitamins. Just rolls off the tongue doesn’t it? Peddling vitamins is really stretching the marketing power of the legend. The Tony Hawk Foundation has helped skateboarding so much, only Hawk gets a pass on this one.

Ronkonkoma, NY (PRWEB) November 12, 2008 --

Whether he's busy shredding the halfpipe, working on his latest video game, touring the country with his Boom Boom HuckJam or making one of his numerous television appearances, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk is first and foremost an athlete. And athletes know the importance of good nutrition. However, most of Tony's fans are boys ages 8 to 16 - not the most nutritionally conscious group around. So, Tony has joined forces with NBTY, Inc., a leading manufacturer of nutritional supplements and children's vitamins, and created the Tony Hawk HuckJam brand of vitamins. These chewy "gummy" vitamins, shaped like miniature skateboard decks, skateboard wheels and Tony's signature hawk skull, provide a good source of 11 vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin C, which bolsters the immune system*, and Vitamin B-12, a major factor in energy metabolism*.

Tony Hawn HuckJam Gummies
To help make a big splash for the release of Tony Hawk HuckJam Gummies, NBTY, Inc. rolled out the vitamins nationally. There are two sizes available - a 60-count bottle and a 180-count bottle. Both will contain three great-tasting flavors of gummies: orange, cherry and grape. So whether you're a parent looking to give your teen a better handle on nutrition, or a seasoned boarder ready to hit the skatepark, Tony Hawk HuckJam Gummies are a great source of the vitamins and minerals that help keep a body coming back for more. Send an email to info@sundownnutrition.com to find out more about Tony Hawk HuckJam Gummies.

In between competing in the street contest in Seattle (placing 10th), Dayne Brummet pulled a Neal Hendrix for Interstate. Danye shot some great photos and wrote this about the 2008 LG Championships:

Vert Contest
The vert comp ended up being pretty exciting. While it was no surprise that PLG took the gold and a whopping 30 grand, the rest of the podium wasn’t so predictable. Danny Mayer was on fire and claimed a well earned 2nd place. Not to downplay the rest of his run, but he definitely sealed that 2nd spot with his kickflip 540. Wow! It was looking like the the bronze was definitely going to Bucky, when on his 5th and final run, Sandro Diaz stole the show. He banged out his whole run with all the bells and whistles, and finished it off with his patented gnar-jar.The winner of the street jam was about as surprising as Pierre winning the vert.

Vert Final Results
1. PLG
2.Danny Mayer
3. Sandro Diaz
4. Bucky Lasek
5. Andy Macdonald
6.Marcelo Batos
7.Buster Halterman
8. Alex Perelson

Street Contest
For starters the street setup was less than great. The ground was super soft making it difficult to pop your board. The LG Championships is always a strong competition but they always have this problem with the soft surface. Other series such as the Dew Tour re-use their wood from course to course, but atleast they are using skatelite. ASA insists on using painted plywood. I heard concerns from some of the other skaters that the event would be a bad representation of skating, because the soft ground would definitely lower the level of skating. That being said, the event represented street skating much better than in years past. They still have a ways to go, but at least they are listening and making steps in the right directions.

I skated with P-Rod the night before at a local skatepark and pretty much knew it was a done deal. The final obstacle was a man-rail with an equally punishing set of stairs. I didn’t mind not skating this section because it was definitely exciting to watch. There’s nothing like a good ol’ fashion carcass toss if you ask me. Pretty much all the top 3 were on thier game. Rodolfo may have gotten 3rd, but his did it on Tulio’s board which was a lot skinnier than his setup. He broke his right out of the gate! How he can hardflip a huge set and 180 switch crook(the hard way) down the rail on someone elses setup is beyond me. But if you question this kids raw power, you should see Tulio’s trucks. They were so bent it looked like an 18-wheeler ran his board over! Greg Lutzka handled 2nd place with 270 lipslides down the rail and frontside flips over it. In the end, it came down to Paul Rodriguez just having the deepest and most consistent bag of tricks for these obstacles. Not only did he destroy rail and stairs, but he did it switch, nollie, and regular. For me, the only other real standout in the finals was Kurtis Colimonico. Kurtis stepped it up and was killing it. He hurt his shoulder with about 3 minutes left in the jam and had to stop. Even still, he managed a solid 5th place.

Street Final Results
1. Paul Rodregez
2. Greg Lutzka
3. Rodolfo Ramos
4. Jerene Rodgers
5. Kurtus Colamonico
6. Fabrizio Santos
7. Danilo do Rosario
8. Wagnor Ramos

The Fantasy Factory is in a warehouse located in L.A full of ridiculous toys, vehicles and the best thing of all a Skate Plaza al la Maloof style. Rob designed the Maloof and the Fantasy setups. This one is simular to Maloof only smaller. This one also has a few extras like a basket ball court, SUV called Stormtroopin’, 3-wheeled car, and a pimp palace lounge fitting for an MTV and skate superstar. No date has been set for the official premiere. MTV has been working on this thing for a while now so hopefully it will out soon. We will keep you posted.

These photos were leaked to Trans World by DC, then pinched by us, and now to your eyes. They've been passed around like joint at Snoop's house. So inhale some of this insanity.

Hailing from Montréal, Pierre has been shredding contests for the last decade and has a shopping list like array of medals to prove it. Recently claiming Gold at X Games Vert and 1st at The Maloof Money Cup, Pierre has been keeping Verts elite good company. For PLG, it seems like contests are just another way of naturally expressing himself on a skateboard. With super consistent runs, filled with Technical Street wizardry, Pierre is always a force to be reckoned with.

Currently living with the indestructible Jake Brown in California, I had a chance to call up PL for a quick phone interview. Fresh off the plane, we talked about the Megaramp, [almost] lighting his house on fire and the most recent Dew Tour stop, where he copped 2nd place.

Congrats on 2nd place at Dew Tour Salt Lake City this weekend. Are you satisfied with your performance?
Umm, I mean it was alright. It could’ve been better. I fell on the first two runs and sort of had to play it safe on the third run. I was in 5th place and I only had one run left. I was like. Play it sort of safe and get top 3 [pauses], or go with the banging run where I take a lot more chances. But I mean I played it safe and Andy Macdonald beat me by quarter of a point. It kinda sucks being beat by Andy Mac [laughs].

I guess that’s good for him. I haven’t seen him up there for a while
Well yeah, exactly. You know I’m happy for him; he has never won a Dew Tour. In four years of stops he’s never won.
I just wish I would have pulled the safety run on the first or second run then I could have one or two more chances to step it up and do a more banging run. But I kept falling on stupid shit. I had to keep it safe. That’s kinda what Bob [Burnquist] did too, he kept falling and then he pulled his safety run on his final run. That’s why we ended up on 2nd and 3rd because Bob and I didn’t actually pull our full potential.

How do you put together tricks for you runs and how many tricks per run?
Runs are usually 17-18 tricks. There are different formats for each event. Maloof Money Cup was a cool format. It had a pretty funny name, called the 8 ball. The 8 Ball was basically where you had 8 tries to do an 8 wall run. So it was 8 tricks. I think that’s a lot better because each run is a lot more intense and it’s shorter. You get more tries so you can try much harder stuff.

Yeah, how does that compare to the “Jam Session” format in the Xgames?
The jam session is super cool because you get a rhythm and its nonstop skating for like 15 minutes or something like that. Each skater has several 30 second runs, which I think is really good because you’re not too tired at the end of the run. The runs are kept really short and sweet. Like intense with no fillers, just hard tricks that you want to see. Instead of three runs you get like 6 runs so you get a chance to get a lot more tries and try harder tricks.

What’s really tough is doing really hard tricks at the end of your run, because you’re pretty tired and it’s a lot harder to be sharp. That’s why shorter runs are better. You get multiple shorter runs instead of less longer runs and you get higher quality skating.

Yeah
In Dew Tour we get three runs of 45 seconds. I basically plan two or three different runs. I’ll plan like a safety run and a really good run. Safety runs have basically the same structure, same tricks, I’m just gonna replace flip tricks with airs. Like I’m going to take off really hard tricks and replace them with tricks that place you on the same place on the ramp but are much easier. Like instead of a kickflip indy I’ll just do an indy air. Instead of a switch heelflip 360 ill just do a full cab.

Well it seems like whatever you’re doing its working. Just looking at your list of accomplishments since early 2000’s its crazy. You’ve been killing it.
Yeah yeah! This year has been great with the Maloof Money Cup. It was over two days. The first day was the 8 ball which I’ve been telling you about and the second day was a jam format. The two days combine (each day 50% of your score) and the overall winner of the two days won the contest. Sort of like a golf tournament where each day counts.
Each tournament basically has different structures.
That’s like 3 different competitions, 3 different events that all have different formats. Keepin’ it fresh, yaknow.

So now you live with Jake Brown in California?
Yeah yeah!

How’s that going? That sounds huge.
Its pretty crazy living with him, you never know what to expect. He almost set my house on fire last week. It wasn’t really his fault, but it sucked because we haven’t had a burner in like a month. [laughs]
I guess the valve on the burner broke and started leaking gas for like a half hour; till he decided to light a cigarette. The whole freakin’ thing just blew up and shit and we were all on the street at three in the morning, with 4 fire trucks. Luckily there wasn’t any major damage or anything, just have to get the burner fixed. But its pretty crazy, brand new house, been there only 3 years. I don’t really blame him for that, but [laughs..] he still did it. Jakes my boy though, it’s been real fun living with him. I’ve known him for a while, one of my best friends. Pretty fun place to be at right now.
We always talk about like, what if you had 10 million dollars? What would you change. And we are like, Maybe we would buy a bigger house, but we would still live together…

But you guys are making some big checks now, with the Xgames and Dew Tour. The Maloof 1st Place was like what, $75.000?
Yeah, we are making good money, but we definitely aren’t football or baseball or anything.

You got a Megaramp in the process yet?
We are working with Monster [Energy] to build a private training facility. I’ve been working on this project for like two years now, it’s taken them forever to actually come through with the budget and location and all. Their very picky. So I don’t know when that’s actually gonna happen but it’s in the works. There’s the Megaramp at Bob’s [Burnquist]. Building a Megaramp is pretty complicated because you need land and all that stuff. We are starting with a vert ramp training facility and see where that goes.

When’s the first time you actually started riding the Megaramp?
Probably a year or two after Danny built the first Megaramp. Danny Way started riding the Megaramp. When he filmed his part for the DC video he was pretty much the only one skating it. He wanted to be the first one to come out with the video part. So he didn’t really open it to anyone else.
After the video part came out we all started going out there to skate it. He pitched the Megaramp to Xgames, and the Xgames picked it up. It’s been an Xgames event ever since.

The first time you saw it and skated it were you scared out of your mind? What were your first thoughts going through your head?
Yeah it was like pretty scary. You have to be prepared mentally before you go there. You can’t be half stepping. You have to know when you get there its going to be scary. That should be expected. Be prepared and go for it. You cant really back down and let it drag like “oh, ill be back next time”. Next time, you will be just as scared, it’s not gonna change anything.

Like the rest of skateboarding, hesitation just makes it worse.
Exactly, you just want to do it and get it over with as soon as possible.

What’s your Megaramp board setup?
I ride an 8.5 wide board with a giant 16 and a half inch wheelbase. The average street board has like as 14 inch wheelbase. My vert has a 15 inch wheelbase and the Megaramp wheelbase is 16 1/2. So it’s a lot longer and wider. It feels like riding a mini snowboard on wheels. But down the 70’ ramp your going like 45 miles an hour, so you definitely want something really stable that’s not gonna get speed wobbles and shit.

I read in an interview from a couple of years ago that said you were married, but now your single or what?
I was married for a while, for about 18 months, but it didn’t work out. So yeah, the article you read that in was probably from around 2005.

What about future plans? Keep doing what your doing?
Actually sorry,.[laughs] I’m not single right now. I’m living with someone.. I’m on speaker phone… she’s in the room [laughs]

How did you meet her?
Danny Way was performing down at one venue with his band Excalera in San Diego, and I was there to watch him play. She was there because one of her friends was also performing. There definitely weren’t too many hot girls there. I saw her and she was one of the few ones, so I’m like, shit I gotta go talk to her. Just went up, said whatsup and we started seeing each other after that. She lives with me now.

Cool. Well thanks again for the time you took for the interview. Any last minute shout outs or advice?
Thanks to all my sponsors, my parents in Montréal; who I don’t see that often. My girlfriend Denise for sure and our two dogs. Yeah man that’s pretty much it. Have fun skating, be original and creative and enjoy what you’re doing!

This weekend I got to witness first hand the raw energy of skateboard competition at its finest.
The AST Dew Tout Finals were this weekend and I went along with my good buddies to see what was in the works for this epic contest in Orlando Florida. This would be my last weekend to live the dream as they say because tomorrow morning I start school again for a year of intense training so that I may better my self.

<img alt="Carlo-de-Andrade_Orlando_Po.jpg" src="http://www.interstatemag.com/images/Carlo-de-Andrade_Orlando_Po.jpg" width="400" height="668"align="right" vspace="10" hspace="10" class="imgborder"/>

What better way to get ready for a big commitment than to escape from all responsibility and enjoy some good old MT. Dew and see a bunch of skaters inspire the youth. If you ever need inspiration I suggest looking in the direction of the powerhouse known as Carlos de Andre. This man goes for each trick as if it were to be his very last trick in a deadly game of skate that could save the world. Never mind the media hype, or who is the poster child, mind Carlos and his fellow countrymen Wagner and Rodolpho Ramos, Fabrizio Santos as well as the unforgettable Daniel de Rosario. The way these Brazilians attack skateboarding makes me want to push until I get buried in the dirt.

At the Baltimore stop of the tour when most of the pros on the tour had three hundred people lined up for autographs and trinket bags, I saw them sitting with families in the shade having a picnic, no fast food, no kook wearing neon getting the kids to scream, but families. Families that were supporting their loved ones who skate by getting them to an event where they could see up front and personal some skating that they may not have been able to see otherwise.
As skaters we all have kind of the same secret dream, and that is to shine on a skateboard and make a comfortable living doing so.

Unfortunately this usually involves a whole lot of people that do not skate and a handful of people that do. What I am really trying to say is that these five dudes from Brazil roll with the energy of an old Bad Brains song, skating hard and laughing easy while bringing smiles to the faces of all who get to meet them, but if you don’t get to meet them at least try to watch whatever contest they are skating in because you will be inspired just as I am.

Whatever your opinion of these big money contests lets not forget how seeing your name in lights while you do what you love is the back bone of the American Dream.

NY, New York, October 20, 2008 - Stoked Mentoring, the action sports non-profit organization, hosts its 2nd annual Stoked Awards presented by Toyota Matrix at Red Bull Space in New York City on November 12th presenting the Stoked Achievement Award to Tony Hawk, who will be in attendance for the event. This spectacular evening celebrates the individuals who embody Stoked’s Mission to “Develop Successful Teens through Opportunity Knowledge Experience and Determination”. MCing the event is X-Games host and Stoked co-founder Sal Masekela, known as the "voice of action sports".

Skateboard legend Tony Hawk says, "I'm happy and excited to be given the Stoked Achievement Award. The work of the Tony Hawk Foundation, as well as the opportunities that Stoked is giving kids through action sports to make them more successful, is something that we need more of."

.
For this formal event many of Stoked’s long-standing supporters come together to honor individuals whose generosity and achievements have touched the lives of so many others. This year Tony Hawk was selected for his outstanding work with the Tony Hawk Foundation. With the creation of the Tony Hawk Foundation in 2002 Hawk has been helping others experience the same excitement he did as a young skateboarder, learning to skate and building the self-confidence that resulted in his success. The foundation was designed to promote and help finance public skate parks in low-income areas and since inception has given away over 2.3 million dollars to 390 skate park projects throughout the United States.

"The pursuit of excellence and greatness, whether it be on a skateboard or school or life, is something that we're looking to instill in our youth. We're thrilled and honored that Tony will share his achievements and life lessons at the Stoked Awards on Nov 12th," says Stoked Mentoring co-founder Steve Larosiliere.

The evening will have cocktails, hors d’ oeuvres, a silent auction, awards ceremony, and entertainment along with music by DJ Christopher Sealey. A very exciting and memorable evening is planned. The outreach and exposure created by the Stoked Awards continues to match inner-city youth with wonderful mentors creating positive relationships and learning valuable life skills through action sports.

This awards ceremony is attended by over 300 people throughout New York City & Los Angeles in the fields of action sports, media, entertainment, finance, fashion and technology. Honorary Co Chairs are actress Joy Bryant and top action sports film distribution company VAS’s President Michael Lythcott. The presenting sponsor is Toyota Matrix. UPDATE Wil Powers contacted Interstate to give us this first hand account of the events surrounding Jereme Rodgers arrest.

"Kurtis Colamonico will tell you that I was never struck or punched by Ryan and it did not take place after an argument with me. He pushed me and I fell onto a couch. Ryan and I have no reason to be fighting and even if we did we probably still wouldn't. What really took place is I heard some bmxers standing near Sheckler saying that they would kick Seaholm's ass for him. I went to Austen and told him he needed to talk to Ryan before some stupid shit went down and when Austen stepped to Ryan he said I said bullshit and Ryan pushed me! After that all the bmxers that were messing with Ryan all night, decided that they wanted to fight too and so it continued to the hallway, elevator and street. Where Jereme attempted to keep the peace and got caught in the middle of it all. When the cops came he refused to leave the premises until all his friends were removed from the situation they took him to Jail. I was there still and he asked me to Call Pete. (The Redbull TM) I called Pete, picked him up at the Bohemian and drove him to the police station to attempt to get him out but he hadn't been processed yet. We went to Shecklers room so that I could settle things with Ryan, but Malcom asked me to leave and suggested for me to wait until the next day when things had died down a little. I still haven't talked to Ryan Face to Face but I've been told that he knows he went a little to far and everything is cool."

Orlando, Florida (October 16, 2008) - Jereme Rogers was arrested on assault and battery of a police officer Thursday night.

Allegedly Rodgers was confronted by Orlando Police after an altercation between Ryan Sheckler and Will Powers in which Sheckler struck Will in the face after an argument.

Rodgers was talking to the officer defending Sheckler when he used his finger to poke at the officer's chest. Seconds later he was wearing bracelets and was hauled off to jail.

Jereme spent the night in jail and was released on Friday. He soon left town but will have to return to answer the charges.

Rogers was in Orlando competing in the last stop of the AST tour. Before his arrest that day, Rodgers placed 12th and did not make the cut for the Skate Park Finals to be held on Sunday.
